Gabriel "Gabe" Eisner and Family
Sunday 8/30 he unfortunately started showing signs of another UTI. Sure enough that ended up being what it was so he started antibiotics again Wednesday 9/2. He had a pretty decent week last week. Continued to work on slide board transfers and is doing awesome with those. He really only needs a little help with balance, he’s doing the actual transfer by himself! He sat up unassisted on the side of the mat in the gym for a while! I’ll share a picture of that. He’s still having some BP issues and we’re in the process of trying to adjust some of his meds to keep him more level and stable with less highs and lows.
Over the weekend he felt pretty yucky. The heavy duty antibiotic they had him on started making him nauseated and he also seemed to be constipated again. So Sunday night they did another “clean out”. He finally finished up the antibiotic Tuesday morning but still started out today feeling nauseated and yucky. He was able to do most of his therapy yesterday and today thankfully.
Despite feeling yucky, we discovered a couple of new things that we’re super excited about! He had some burning sensation in his right hip area that was new. He can also feel light touch (previously it was only deep pressure) over the majority of his back and some of his abdomen…better/lower on his right side in the front.
Specific prayer requests!
No more UTI’s. He’s had 3 (symptomatic) in 6 weeks. He’s had ultrasounds of kidneys and bladder that are normal. They’ve started him on a medicine to change the ph in his bladder to hopefully make it less favorable for bacteria to live.
No more constipation issues. Again, he’s on medications to help with that since he can’t be as active as he used to be.
No more nausea/vomiting!! Praying that was just residual effects from the antibiotic and he won’t have any more of that.
BP to stabilize as we wean/change meds around.
Please pray we can keep our discharge date to go to the day program 9/24. Some of these medical things going on have us questioning if he will be ready but we are both so ready for the next step. We absolutely want to wait for him/me to be ready but would love for the date not to be moved out again. We’re trusting God’s timing will be perfect and having faith we will be home soon!!
Stamina, attitude, endurance. He is still mostly positive especially on the days he feels good! But he’s had a lot of days recently where he didn’t feel good and those are wearing on him. He’s far from giving up but definitely does better when he can see that he’s making progress.
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
Matthew 11:28-30
“A Psalm of David:
May Adonai answer you in times of distress, may the name of the God of Jacob protect you. May he send you help from the sanctuary and give you support from Zion. May he be reminded by all your grain offerings and accept the fat of your burnt offerings. May he grant you your heart’s desire and bring all your plans to success. Then we will shout for joy at your victory and fly our flags in the name of our God. May Adonai fulfill all your requests. Now I know that Adonai gives victory to his anointed one- he will answer him from his holy heaven with mighty victories by his right hand. Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we praise the name of Adonai our God. They will crumple and fall, but we will arise and stand erect. Give victory, Adonai! Let the King answer us the day we call.”
Psalm 20
