Everett Strong
Everett is officially 11 months old! We are so proud of all he has done. Here is a little update on this week's therapies.
In occupational therapy we have been doing some sensory play. We have different textures for Everett to feel with his hands like dry rice, noodles and some playdough or slime. He is not too sure about it and almost freezes like when you put shoes on a dog.
Everett's physical therapist is in Korea visiting family so we got to meet a new therapist. She wants us to work on weight bearing through kneeling on an incline. He has done well with this. We are seeing him support his upper body and give us some of that curve in the back you see during tummy time.
We got to meet with a new therapist as well that did a lot of myofascial release. She focuses on airways, feeding, and alternate forms of PT. This was pretty incredible because at the end of the appointment Everett was able to nurse with a breastfeeding shield and he has not wanted to nurse in months. This will be good for his oral development, she wants to bring his jaw forward more. She also focuses a lot on cranial work/cranial nerves which is essential for a brain injury and may prevent further problems.
Everett has been on an intense schedule with chiropractic care. He had 3 months of 4 days a week and then was able to reduce that frequency to 3 days a week for another 3 months. This week he has moved to the next phase of his plan and we will only have 2 visits. It feels like we are starting to find pockets of time... but then I just find a new therapy to try.
We are BUSY! But we are feeling so blessed that we have the opportunity to give him these therapies and that is in part to all of the generous donations. Thank you again for the support and following Everett's journey.
