Technically we are day +63 post second transplant, but day +60 marks a big milestone when it comes to bone marrow transplants! Blakely’s labs have been looking great and we have officially started her Tacro wean 👏🏼👏🏼 Tacro is her immunosuppressant that keeps her cells from attacking my cells and my cells from causing GVHD. This is great! The wean usually takes about a month to get her fully off the immunosuppressant. During this time we have to really monitor her for GVHD symptoms. So far she is handing the wean well. 

Tomorrow Blakely will undergo a day +60 bone marrow aspirate to be sure she is still Leukemia free and shows 100% mama cells. Please pray all will go well with the procedure and 100% mama cancer free cells! After this she will have another bone marrow aspirate on day +100. 

Next week Blakely will be starting a maintenance chemo to ensure she remains cancer free and lessen the likelihood of relapse in the future. For this chemo she will be going into clinic 5 days a week each month, for a total of 6 rounds. Since it’s an infusion at clinic we do not have to be admitted and sleep there. 🙏🏼 We are praying it’s not too hard on her body and she can still be feeling well while receiving the chemo. 

Blakely is still reliant on her feeding tube and  IV fluids. She often asks for foods or says she is hungry but when she tastes it, just spits it out. Her tastebuds are still off and we are hoping they will get back to normal soon. 

We are still on the journey and it’s never easy, but we are just so grateful to be where we are at. We are so grateful to be home and that Blakely feels well enough to be running and playing all day long. Every day is a blessing! 🫶🏼
