Sorry for the lack of updates, life has been a bit chaotic to say the least. Long story short, first a rock hit the sunroof of our SUV and completely shattered it, then we found out our health insurance is no longer going to be in network with the hospital Blakely receives care at, then Blakely got a UTI, then B accidentally pulled her NG tube out while playing and when trying to leave the hospital our other car wouldn’t start, and lastly, she started getting a rash on her arms and legs. These all happened in the SAME week 😮💨
Our doctors confirmed it is a GVHD rash. GVHD (Graft Versus Host Disease) occurs when transplanted donor cells recognize the recipient's tissues as foreign and attacks them, leading to a range of symptoms affecting the skin, GI tract, liver, and other organs. Our doctors aren’t concerned at this point as they actually like to see a little GVHD. She was prescribed 2 creams that we put on daily and also had to increase her immunosuppressant to calm the GVHD down. We will see with this week’s clinic visit when if want to continue weening off the immunosuppressant.
On Friday Blakely will undergo her +100 day bone marrow aspirate procedure to confirm she is still 100% mama cells and cancer free. The following week she will have her second round of maintenance chemo!!
So like I said…. A bit chaotic 😂 but so grateful to be where we are and to be home together ! 🧡
Please pray the procedure will go well, she can feel calm, and the results will continue to be amazing!
As always, so grateful for all of you 🫶🏼
**Enjoy the picture of Blakely being Wednesday Addams and getting to trick or treat at a few family members houses. This picture describes their personalities well 😂
