Eiley's Continued SMA Journey
While we spend a lot of time working on Eiley's gross motor skills, we've also been working hard on her fine motor skills. These include things like using a pincer grasp, coloring, cutting with scissors, holding a cup, dressing herself, and so many other everyday tasks that most of us don't think twice about.
One thing I've loved seeing is how she's beginning to combine all of those individual skills to play independently.
I recently gave her a sticker activity book, fully expecting she'd need my help. When I came back, she had flipped through the pages, found where each sticker belonged, used the stamping tool to place them, and finished the whole book by herself!
Watching her hold the page with one hand while using the other to stamp the stickers was such a special moment. 🥹 It may seem small, but for us it was a huge milestone and a reminder that all the hard work is paying off.
We still have plenty to work on—cutting with scissors, opening markers, dressing herself, and becoming more independent with pottying—but moments like these remind me just how far she's come.
Every milestone is a testament to her determination and a reminder of what a miracle her life truly is. 🤍
