This Thanksgiving, we were grateful to come together as a family. DeeDee brought her culinary talents to the table, preparing her signature macaroni and cheese and broccoli and rice casserole—delicious highlights of the meal! Malika hosted the gathering, with Aunt Ruby, Mom (Kem), and DeeDee all contributing to make the day truly special. 

 

However, on Friday, after dialysis, DeeDee was admitted to the hospital due to high blood pressure and fluid-related issues. While this was an unexpected development, DeeDee remains in good spirits and is receiving excellent care. Her primary concern, true to her loving and lighthearted nature, was ensuring her sweet potato pie was safely frozen for future enjoyment! 😄 

 

At this time, her hospital stay is ongoing, and there is no update yet on when she will be discharged. 

 

As we reflect on DeeDee’s journey, it’s important to acknowledge the challenges she has faced over the past year. Her resilience shines through despite multiple hospital stays, which now total 66+ days: 

1. November 29, 2024 – Ongoing - Current stay. 

2. November 11–17, 2024 - 7 days. 

3. October 21–26, 2024 - 6 days. 

4. September 3–12, 2024 - 10 days. 

5. August 12–22, 2024 - 11 days. 

6. August 9–12, 2024 - 4 days. 

7. July 18–25, 2024 - 8 days. 

8. March 29–April 4, 2024 - 7 days. 

9. November 3, 2023 - 1 day. 

10. October 16–20, 2023 - 5 days. 

11. July 12–14, 2023 - 3 days. 

12. March 9–11, 2023 - 3 days. 

 

Each stay represents a battle DeeDee has faced with courage and determination. These experiences remind us of her incredible strength and the unwavering faith that keeps her moving forward.
