Deana's Cancer Journey
Had to go to Mayo yesterday. My port was looking red, swollen, and felt tender. I had that happen 2 years ago and needed an antibiotic so I figured I best get it looked at. I have treatment on Tuesday and don't want to have to cancel it.
I had lab work to do first. I am so very impressed by my white blood cell count. It was up quite a bit since Dec 5th! YES!! That means the IVs are working well. The woman who drew my blood was so gentle, in fact I didn't feel the needle go in. The dr wanted to do a blood culture so that meant I had to get blood drawn from two different spots. Initially she said from both arms. Yeaaaa about that, nope, can't do that on my left arm I had 12 lymph nodes removed so they poked me in 2 spots on my right arm. This young lady was awesome too, I didn't feel the needle at either area go in. The one spot was at my wrist area. I asked her if she could be my personal phlebotomist. She giggled and said sure.
The antibiotic is not agreeing with my stomach at all. I didn't need any help with stomach issues. I'm making sure to drink the kefir coconut water and ozone infused water, take digestive enzymes and probiotics, and eat sauerkraut and kimchi.
I got a new book called "Breast Cancer Breakthrough Integrating Conventional & Natural Medicine for True Healing" by Dr. Veronique Desaulniers and Dr Michael Karlfeldt. Dr V has another book on breast cancer that is really good. So far I am liking this new one. It is so important to support your body while doing chemo.
I will have to get my classroom packed up so the teacher going in there can set things up for herself after winter break. I have to make room in my garage. My old students one in particular aren't going to be happy. I will have to give their parents my email address and cell number so they have a way to communicate with me if they are okay with it. However, packing a classroom is just as bad as packing up a home!! AHHHHHHHHH it's ok I can do it.
So I was on Tik Tok the other day and somehow ended up on American muscle cars, have mercy did it remind me of my teen years. The sound of those cars are amazing!! I had to laugh because Gary taught me how to drive a manual (stick) in his mustang gt. I got off work and after he picked me up he went to an elementary parking lot and told me to switch sides. Picture it: I had on pantyhose, a skirt, and heels. I took off my heels and got in the driver's seat. I did very well and have loved driving a manual car ever since!
Just like being on a motorcycle, if you have ever been stressed or had things on your mind to sort out, there is something about driving a manual, with loud music, windows down that gets rid of the stress or helps you find answers. I may have once or twice raced a few cars. One daytona charger thought they were going to take me......HA, no!
Kinda hard not to like that when I used to love helping Gary and his dad Jack work on Jack's mud dragster.
When Mike and I were picking up my prescription there was a pretty white convertible mustang in front of us. She sounded so pretty. Maybe I should rent one and drive around. That would be amazing.
Enough reminiscing. Until next time... love to all
