Thank you to everyone for all the calls, texts, and prayers! It means the world and we appreciate the love so much even if we haven’t responded yet. I have been reading your comments on these updates to David, along with texts you have sent him, and it has been very encouraging! So first, a big thank you for all the love and prayers, we very much appreciate all of the kind comments and messages and enjoy reading them.

I also just want you to know that so many of your prayers were answered!! I know many people have been praying for a healthy liver for David for months, and God answered that! We don’t take for granted this opportunity for new life with a new liver, what a blessing!!

So many of you prayed for surgery yesterday and for wisdom for the doctors in the details. We want you to know those prayers were answered in a BIG way!! The doctor’s first words to me after surgery were: “He’s doing okay right now, but that was really challenging, he made me really nervous, I almost lost him.”

One of the connections during surgery tore and David bled out like a hose. He lost 2 liters of blood and they had to act very fast to save his life. Miraculously they were able to repair the vein to re make the connection and stop the bleed. Thank you Jesus!! There was 3 surgeons in on his case, along with a lot of extra staff who worked like crazy to transfuse blood products and turn things around. His surgery took double the normal amount of time, they did connections they have never done before to make it work with his unique anatomy, and their team was twice the size it normally is for transplant surgeries.

To say that I’m thankful to be sitting by David’s bedside with him is an understatement! Jesus has answered so many prayers! He has guided our path so clearly to this team in Utah and gone before these doctors during surgery. Even though the process getting here has been painful and very frustrating at times, we can’t help but be grateful. It’s so clear that God’s not done writing David’s story! ♥️

David’s a true warrior! He has endured more than what most people will go through in a lifetime and he continues to press on. He still has a massive incision to heal from and a ton of medication to adjust to, but his numbers are stable right now and he was just downgraded from the ICU to the transplant floor!

Hopefully he can be discharged from the hospital within a week, maybe sooner if things go smoothly. We will stay out here for another month for close follow up. We won’t have pathology results for a couple more days on his bile ducts.

There is still a lot to come, but we are praying the worst is behind us with some smaller bumps ahead. We wanted to share a few of the details here so you know prayers are being answered! Thank you for all the love, it’s truly the biggest blessing! ♥️
