Today was Addison’s original due date! She is 16 weeks old and 40 weeks gestation. She weighs 5lbs 10.6oz today. She got off of CPAP on Saturday and now has just a little bit of straight oxygen through a nasal cannula. She has two hernias one umbilical and one inguinal hernia (by her groin). These will have to be repaired at a later date so for now we are just keeping an eye on them. They are still monitoring the holes in her heart and she has another ECHO on Friday so hopefully that comes back with good results. Two weeks ago she had an eye exam and it revealed that she is in stage 2, zone 2 of retinopathy of prematurity. ROP is an eye disorder affecting premature babies where abnormal blood vessels grow in the retina. Stage 2, zone 2 means that she has started to develop this disorder but it isn’t severe enough yet for them to operate and fix her eyes, and they are hoping with time and her being off CPAP her eyes will return to normal. The biggest news is that Addison started bottling today! She took 10mL at noon and another 10mL at 3pm. The speech therapist wants her to start with just 10mL in the bottle and the rest in her feeding tube but I think Addison wants more in her bottle! She gets very mad when her bottle is empty. As always we appreciate all the prayers and added support!
