Today’s adventure: a full-day VIP tour of Duke Cancer Center. And by VIP, I mean we checked in and out of SEVEN appointments like we’re training for the medical decathlon. 🏥🥇

Bloodwork. Scans. Consults. More scans. More bloodwork. A partridge in a pear tree. If there were a punch card, Dana would’ve earned a free coffee and maybe a nap by now.

And through all the poking, prodding, waiting rooms, and “just one more quick thing,” she’s handled it with more grit than I could ever pretend to have. I’m exhausted… and I’m not even the one getting turned into a human pin cushion. 😅

All of this is part of her pre-op journey leading up to Monday - when she’ll receive what we’re praying is a groundbreaking therapeutic drug to fight her Grade 4 glioblastoma. Big words. Big science. Even bigger hope.

Every long hallway, every appointment, every hour spent in those chairs is worth it if it means more time. More moments. More life with her two boys. More school pickups. More birthdays. More watching her son grow up, graduate, fall in love, get married, and become the man she already knows he will be.

That’s what today is about. That’s what Monday is about. That’s what this fight is about.

We’re tired. We’re hopeful. We’re grateful. And we’re not going anywhere. 💛

If you’re the praying, positive-vibes, science-loving type - we’ll take it all.

I am praying us all along. Wednesday I had my left knee replaced and I am recovering at home with lots of time to reflect on what modern medicine can achieve. May we both be women warriors on our respective health journey but clearly you get the gold star for the most courage and dedication to all the steps along the way. Love to y’aii.
