July is here.
For me, this month marks my second infusion and my next MRI. It feels like I've been looking toward this month for a while now, and now that it's here, I can feel myself slipping into that familiar pattern of waiting.
Waiting for the infusion.
Waiting for the scan.
Waiting for the results.
Waiting for the scan.
Waiting for the results.
Cancer teaches you that so much of life is spent waiting, and if I'm not careful, I can find myself counting the days, then the hours, then the minutes. But I've learned that life is too precious to spend wishing time away.
None of us knows exactly what the MRI will show, and there's no benefit in trying to live in the future before it arrives. The only thing I can control is how I choose to live today.
So that's exactly what I'm going to do.
I'm going to enjoy the conversations, the laughter, the quiet moments, the sunshine, and the people I love. I'm going to make memories, find reasons to smile, and be grateful for each day as it comes. The infusion and the MRI are part of my journey, but they don't get to define every moment of this month.
When the appointments arrive, I'll face them. When the results come, I'll deal with them then.
Until then, I'm choosing to be present. To be patient. And to keep living this beautiful, messy, uncertain life as fully as I can.
I believe July brings good news. I believe it brings many moments worth living. And I believe that hope is something worth holding onto, one day at a time.
