Another week, another infusion with my best guy by my side. ❤️
There are seasons of life that ask you to hold a lot of things at once.
Right now, I’m trying to find a new normal somewhere between the end of summer, back to school, work at a place I love, navigating a move, supporting my husband as he figures out his next career move… and still being a brain cancer patient in active treatment.
At my last Duke visit, they mentioned that my time in the trial will eventually come to an end. Thankfully, it’s not too soon. But hearing that brought up a lot of emotions. I’m excited because it means I’m doing well, but I’m also nervous about what comes next.
I’m learning that two things can be true at once. I can feel incredibly grateful and still nervous. Happy and overwhelmed. Hopeful and scared. Positive and worried. Joy (for the fellow cancer patient who rang the bell today - I gave him the biggest hug!) & uneasy (for having to be poked for the infusion today at all!)
From the outside, maybe it looks like we’re in a good routine. And we are. But I still feel like I’m taking up a lot of space with appointments, needs, emotions, and all the ways this has changed our lives.
Even the things that look like choices, like moving, are really just part of the season we’re in. We’ve had to reprioritize and reimagine our life together.
So I’m trying to make room for all of it… the gratitude, the nerves, the joy, the uncertainty. Maybe that’s what this new normal looks like. ❤️
