About three weeks ago, Cruz had one of his worst seizures… lasting 14 minutes. The ambulance was called. Our bedroom turned into an ICU within minutes. It was the second time since leaving the NICU that I thought… he might die in my arms.

The seizure happened shortly after his shunt settings were adjusted incorrectly. And after talking with his neuro team, a new medication was prescribed, but we held off on starting it… praying maybe it was just from the shunt issue, and once that was fixed, he’d go back to his “baseline.” 

But that didn’t happen.

Tuesday night, as I was still holding him after putting him to sleep, another seizure came. It didn’t last long, thank God, but it was enough to confirm what I didn’t want to admit… he needs the extra medicine.

Finding that balance between holistic healing and western medicine is hard. Especially with a kiddo like Cruz. Sometimes it doesn’t look the way you pray it will. 

I know God is working. He’s never failed us yet, and I know He won’t start now. Better days are coming. Treatments that can truly help Cruz are on the horizon. And I’m holding on tight to the prayer that one day our boy will be free. 

We are officially one month out from Cruz's first 2 week DMI Intensive Therapy program! Because of your generous donations, we were able to raise enough to pay for the program in full!!! We can not begin to express our gratitude!!!

Our next step in our fundraising efforts is to cover the airbnb that we will be staying in while we are in North Carolina for treatment. That is going to cost approximately $2,000 for the two weeks we are there.
