Update on Cru 💛
Cru was admitted to Primary Children’s on Friday with a cough and fever. After an X-ray, we learned his right lung was full of fluid. Cultures confirmed he was in sepsis.
He was taken into surgery immediately to place a drain in his lung. The fluid was blood, something the doctors found concerning. Joe and I were pulled into a room where they shared the hardest news: there was a possibility the cancer had spread, and they needed to test the fluid for cancer cells.
The next few days were terrifying. We were focused on helping Cru stabilize while anxiously waiting for pathology results. I’ve never pleaded with the Lord the way I have these past few days.
At one point, the doctor spoke with Cru about what could happen if cancer was found in the fluid. That was a moment I will never forget. It broke our hearts.
We’ve tried to stay hopeful while also bracing ourselves for more hard news. It’s been a heavy few weeks. On my story, I asked for specific prayers—for his vitals to stabilize, for the fluid to drain, and for GOOD NEWS.
Today, all of those prayers were answered🙌🏼
• Cru’s vitals are stable.
• The fluid is draining.
• And the biggest MIRACLE: the pathology report came back negative for cancer in the lung fluid.
We still have a long road ahead, but today we are celebrating this incredible gift. The relief is overwhelming.
Thank you to every single person who has prayed for Cru and our family. We feel it. Your love and support have carried us through.
Today, we are choosing to live with immense gratitude, and stay present in this moment of having some good news. 💛
