Colton Hilden
The doctors decided to keep Colton sedated after surgery to keep him comfortable and to keep him from pulling out/off all the necessary medical equipment. They are working on weaning off the sedation meds while balancing pain management and his overall comfort and recovery. He opens his eyes for just a few seconds to whisper "ma" or "da" - whoever tried to silently sneak out of the room.
He has been off supplemental oxygen for a few hours and his sats are holding fairly well. He has a drain in his back that he will come home with - that will be a new one for us and a challenge im sure to keep in. There is also a very interesting sealed bandage hooked up to a vacuum over his incision. The negative pressure helps with healing, drainage, and avoiding infection.
