Hi everyone, 

We wanted to share an update on Cody and also take a moment to say a very special thank you to someone who has made a huge difference for our family. 

First, our deepest gratitude goes to Ethan Shepherd for organizing the incredible volleyball fundraiser at iBeach. The love, energy, and generosity at that event were beyond words. Seeing everyone come together, play, and rally for Cody truly lifted our spirits during a very difficult time. We are so touched by each person who showed up, donated, and cheered us on. You’ve given us more than just financial support—you’ve given us hope and a reminder of how loved we are. (Pictures attached!) 

As for Cody’s journey, this past Thursday was a big day. He underwent stem cell retrieval in preparation for upcoming treatments, which is a critical step in giving him the best possible chance at beating this cancer. At the same time, I had my D&C procedure after learning that my pregnancy had ended at 8 weeks. There was no heartbeat. While this loss has been deeply painful, we are holding close to each other and to the outpouring of love from our community. 

This Wednesday, Cody will begin cisplatin, a strong chemotherapy drug that is often used for hard-to-treat cancers like his. Cisplatin works by damaging the DNA of cancer cells so they can’t grow or divide, but it can also have tough side effects like nausea, kidney strain, and hearing changes. We are praying his little body tolerates it well. Please pray specifically for minimum symptoms, no hearing loss, and that he keeps his appetite.

We are moving forward one step at a time, grateful for every good day and for all of you who continue to walk this journey with us. Your support means more than you know.
