At this point, her GI tract wasn’t working as it should and the surgery team made the decision to put an NG tube in. If you don’t know what that is, it’s miserable, uncomfortable and painful. She wasn’t able to move her head much as well as having a hard time talking and swallowing. But this actually started making a difference right away. The nausea went away and she felt and looked much better. After surgery due to shortage of rooms on the colorectal floor, we had been staying on the transplant floor. The nurses there were absolutely amazing. But a room opened up and we moved down to colorectal where we would have easier access to people on her specific team. Once we got settled, even after needing to be propped in bed in a specific position, she was able to finally get some decent sleep. However we will miss the view from our old room.
