I’m not posting a pic of Christyna right now. Christy is not decent, having recently had medical cream/ointment applied to the girls. Instead, you get a pic of my upgraded parts. My surgeon, the day before C’s surgery told me he never wants to see me again, and my healing is months ahead of what was predictable. Christy has an example to follow and a partner to fulfill upon her recovery. Christyna got me through a gnarly break, now I get to carry her!
Christyna amazes me. She took one Tylenol yesterday beyond her normal medication regimen. One Tylenol for all the pain she had going on! ONE!!! Women are so much tougher and stronger than men, in my opinion. I was hopped up on pain killers for weeks! I stand in awe of this breast cancer survivor. Double mastectomy and a rebuild from her own tissue makes Christyna a freakin’ rock star for how she is handling this.
To close the loop, and this will be the final mention for Christy’s sake, pooping has returned to a “normal” schedule. The Poopmeister is signing off.
Christyna asked me earlier this morning if the level of care she gave me close to the same level she gave me. No, it’s not. I have a ways to go. I’m doing really well in the areas I do well- keeping a schedule and timeline, spotting her, cooking and cleaning. But Christyna gave such tender care to me and my arm, and is still insisting to! I think I must concede that she is way better at being a caregiver than I, and I am ok with that. I get to love her in the way I get to love her, and she is thrilled with that.
I also get to derive peace from the fact that I have a secret weapon she doesn’t… I have all y’all to back me up where I fall short! But alas, I can’t really take credit for my secret weapon, since Christyna gave all y’all to me.
Oh well, just more proof that (on her home turf) she is way, way better than I in this realm. I’ll keep homemaking like a champ!

You two just earned honorary PhDs in “How to Be an Amazing Spouse Under Pressure.” Seriously, it’s been beautiful to witness. When magical things happen to magical people, it reminds the rest of us that the world still has its moments of grace. We needed that.
You’re crushing it, Ryan! 🩷
