Christian, the Blouir family
A few big things happened today, and after 5 weeks and 2 days of waiting, we FINALLY received Christian’s full biopsy results.
The doctors weren’t surprised by the results, as they pretty much confirmed what we already knew. Christian has diffused midline pediatric high-grade glioma.
The prognosis is not good. If treatment goes as hoped, we’ve been told the average amount of time we may have left with Christian is around 12–15 months.
Writing that feels almost impossible. Knowing that this could mean our last Thanksgiving, our last Christmas, our last New Year’s, and last birthday together. 💔
I KNOW that God has the final say. I truly believe that. But at the same time, we have to be realistic and acknowledge the information the doctors have given us. Christian has an incredible team of doctors, and they have promised us that if they see that timeline changing—whether that means more time or less—they will be honest with us and let us know.
So, for now, our goal is simple:
We want to make whatever time God gives us the BEST.
I want the best Christmas we’ve ever had.
The best birthday.
The best family memories.
We want to fill these months with as much love, laughter, joy, and happiness as we possibly can.
We want to make memories of a lifetime in the time we have left together. ❤️
On a happier note, Christian was discharged from the hospital today! 🙏🏻 That was definitely something worth celebrating.
Before he was discharged, they placed a PICC line for some of the medications he needs. They are not planning to place a port because Christian will not be receiving IV chemo. After radiation, there is a possibility of oral chemo, but that is a discussion and decision for a later date. For now, our focus is getting him through radiation and taking everything one step at a time.
We also “moved” into the Cleveland Ronald McDonald House, where we’ll be staying while Christian goes through radiation, which is expected to continue through early October. Our goal, as long as Christian is feeling up to it, is to come home on the weekends so he can be in his own bed and surrounded by his family.
There is still so much we don’t know. There will probably be many more changes, unexpected turns, and difficult days ahead. But we are going to keep leaning on the Lord, trusting Him, and taking this one day at a time. It’s all we can do. ❤️
Please continue to pray for Christian—for comfort, strength, and peace! Please pray for our family as we navigate this unimaginable journey.
