Today has been a little more concerning.  Christian has been coughing and bringing up some pretty gross stuff, so his hospice nurse came out to check on him. While his lungs sounded okay, his oxygen was in the mid-80s, along with a low-grade fever and a fast heart rate.
She spoke with his oncology and palliative teams, and they’re starting him on an antibiotic for pneumonia and oxygen as needed. We all feel this may be related to him aspirating when he drinks.
He’s been sleeping most of the day, but thankfully the nurse said he isn’t contagious. So when he feels up to it, he can still do little things. Right now, he’s actually playing football on the Xbox with another kid here at the Ronald McDonald House.
