Not your average St Patty’s Day and a far cry from Pig N Whistle here in the Trauma wing. After not eating for 5 days Chris’ sweet tooth took over when he got the green light to chew gum, popsicles and light colored candy. Light colored Poppi drinks were mentioned so Artic Blast finally helped him feel better!
Monday and Tuesday he spent up to an hour in the chair and 40 min of PT. The nurse said he was motivated and determined to get work done and he did!
They are trying to change a couple of tubes to see what his body can handle. Praying for these things to pan out so we can get the referral for the in-patient rehab.
While I had to take a break from updates BR has been visiting daily and covering for me for a day to recoup. Back at it and small victories kept pressing on. By the end of the night he was back to being able to consume 500ml of water an hour.
Prior to returning today loads of friends helped me with the impound lot. We just went to get personal belongings out of the vehicle. That was a little tricky but we (they) were successful in getting things open in an aggressive manner.
The most wonderful part was the Miraculous Medal I wrapped around his wrist before the EMT’s took him was nestled in the back seat. The towing company had taken the care to sweep the whole area and he found it right where Chris would have been put in the ambulance. It was completely unharmed.
Thank you again for all your messages, prayers and love. We truly feel protected in the midst of all of this. If anyone needs an update please direct to this page or feel free to copy and paste to them in a message. The days are typically fast pace or hurry up and wait and the phones go by the wayside. We love all your messages even if we can’t respond. Keep them coming!
