AHHHH!!! OH MY GOSH!!!
Camilla had her 2nd session of speech therapy and f r e a k i n g rocked it!
Last session was rough. We'll leave it at that...😬 So this session, her speech therapist and I had very ✨realistic✨ expectations.
And this girl BLEW US OUT THE WATER!
Not only did she sit straight up for the entire therapy session (she often has a hard time sitting upright due to the core strength that balancing requires), but this girlie was using her communication device.... hmmm I'd say about 🤯70% independently🤯!
She needed help finding games & her dashboard (for words like "yes" "no" and "all done"), and flipping through screens. However, once she got to the screen she needed, girly took👏🏼 off 👏🏼
She played the games and appropriately answered questions to interact with her teacher!
At one point, they were playing with a bus that sang "wheels on the bus" when a button was pushed. As it sang "the wheels on the bus go round and round" Camilla used her device to say "yes, yes, yes, yes"! She was clearly SO HAPPY to not only be vibing to a favorite verse of "wheels on the bus", but to also have the ability to make it known to everyone in the room!
The next time they pressed the bus's button, it began to sing "the wipers on the bus go swish swish swish" and Camilla immediately used her device to say "no no no!" Girly pop was NOT about to have her arms grabbed and swished back and forth hahahaha
I love this for her!!
🗣️Being able to use a communication device is obviously great for interactions like this and for helping us better understand her personality.
🌡️It is also going to give her a way to communicate to us when she is in pain and what hurts.
📈It's going to better help us understand her goals and how we can support her.
👯♀️It's going to help her make friends with people without me being a constant interpreter (which teenage Camilla would truly hate hahaha)
🎉🎉 Thank you so much for celebrating this epic win with us🎉🎉
God has worked so many miracles for Camilla, and I know as we continue to unite on her behalf, God is going to continue paving the way for her hard earned success💪🏼
We already have 44% of funds raised for Camilla's first DMI intensive and I am truly humbled by your love & support. Thank you for being here and continuing to show up and support Camilla how you can. As her mom, it means more to me than I can explain🥲🫶🏼 Thank you.
