Hola all. ❤️

I just wanted to start with a HUGE thank you to everyone for all the love, positive vibes, prayers, messages, and support. We can feel it, and it has been such a huge boost during this incredibly challenging time.

Here’s a quick-ish timeline on Anuar:

On August 10th, we went to the ER hoping for what he calls a “magic pill” to control his blood pressure and maybe some fluids. After sitting in an ER room, having a head scan, and suddenly seeing about eight doctors storm into the room, I hear the words, “big brain bleed.”

Excuse me… WHAT?!

Off to the ICU we went. He had BIG brain surgery on August 12th and, amazingly, came home on August 14th.

He took it slow. We were careful. He rested. We made sure he was comfortable, and everything seemed to be going well.

More than six weeks later, he started noticing that he would get “stuck” speaking English. His Spanish was fine, and his English was fine, but sometimes he would have to stop and work to get the words out of his mouth.

Then on Monday, September 28th, after a restful weekend, he stayed home with me. He and Amelia went with me to finish shopping for an event. We were almost done when it happened.

Some kind of seizure.

He became verbally stuck trying to finish a word, and I immediately called 911.

Back to the hospital we went.

The scan showed that his brain had not fully expanded and the space had filled with fluid again, causing pressure. On Tuesday, they inserted a drain to remove the fluid. They removed the drain Thursday around lunchtime.

Thursday evening, he had an MMA embolization—which sounds terrifying and, honestly, is scary to hear about. They went through an artery to reach the vessel that was leaking, sealed it, and stopped the leak.

During all of this, he continued having smaller episodes. He would just look at me, and I knew. I’d have to tell everyone around him not to overwhelm him and just give him a moment.

We were told he may be on seizure medication indefinitely. His blood sugar was high, and we were told he was diabetic. His blood pressure was everywhere except where we wanted it, and we were told he would need blood pressure medication.

But last night, we FINALLY got some rest.

No episodes. ❤️
His blood sugar is way back into the normal range.
His blood pressure is doing much better, although it still rises after PT—which is understandable considering he has basically been laying flat since Monday.

Today, everyone seems to agree that we may get to go HOME. The final decision will be up to the doctor, and I’m okay with either answer. I just want him well, safe, and understanding that we are on a very long road to recovery.

One of the hardest parts has been watching him worry about us.

He was so anxious, trying to figure out how we were going to make it through all of this. I kept telling him, “I’ll take care of it.”

Then our sweet friends started this for us.

I watched his shoulders drop. He looked up and said, “Thank you, God. Thank you all. Thank everyone for helping.”

That moment meant more than I can explain.

I know this is a lot, but I wanted to share an update because so many of you have been incredibly kindhearted. You’ve shared, given, prayed, checked on us, sent encouraging words, and helped carry us through a week when we truly needed it.

We still have a long road ahead, but today we are grateful. Grateful for progress. Grateful for each other. Grateful for our family and friends. And so incredibly grateful for every single person who has helped us.

Thank you, everyone. Much love, and may you be blessed as much as you have blessed us.

Anuar, Brooke, Drew & Amelia ❤️
