Tomorrow Sunday aug 16 2026Update: Tomorrow morning, Branson will be getting a tracheostomy (trach). This will allow them to remove the breathing tube from his mouth and give him a safer, more comfortable airway while he continues to recover.
They will also suction out secretions/fluid from his lungs to help reduce his risk of pneumonia and will be treating him with antibiotics as needed.
This is a positive step forward. Because Branson will likely need airway support for a while as his brain continues to heal and wake up, the trach will make it easier to keep his airway clear, lower some of the risks that come with leaving the breathing tube in his mouth, and allow the doctors to reduce sedation more safely.
