Since Antonio has been admitted they have been monitoring his kidney numbers. Nephrologist has not been so happy with his creatinine and Bun kidney numbers being elevated since his admission which is not good. His calcium has been low that they had to do calcium IV. They told us there was a possibility of him getting dialysis but not at the moment. His progress has been slow so rheumatologist suggested three days high dose of prednisone (steroids) then he would get his cytoxan.  So his first IV line got inflitrated they placed a new one on his left hand but it started stinging him which its not good. Since he is on prednisone iv. They had to have the pic team come in and place a new one. They put it in the wrong place his wrist it didn't last a day because it started stinging him again. So all his medications were paused. Till we decide if he would get a mid line or picc line. It was late that night that they decided to let him rest. The next morning pic team came in and they suggested a picc line was the best option. They placed it It was going to be his third dose of steroids. Thursday of last week he got his second dose of cytoxan.  With this we were hoping to bring down his creatinine and Bun they both declined but very little not what we were hoping for. Since he is retaining so much fluid they put him on alburen and lasix.

Saturday nephrologist came in and told us that if his Bun (blood urea nitrogen) level was elevated on Sunday morning labs  they would get him ready for dialysis. Sunday morning we got the news that both his Bun number and creatinine have elevated. That they will get him ready for his hemo dialysis line placement for Monday. But first he needed a ultrasound on his neck and shoulders  a ekg to check his heart and a chest xray.  He will not have anything to drink or eat after midnight.
Monday morning they gave us a time for placement. He had to go under anesthesia. When we got to his room after his line placement the dialysis nurse was already waiting for us. The plan for dialysis is one hour Monday two hours Tuesday and three hours today. He got his first round and he fealt tired. Yesterday was his second day and he's in good spirit but tired. He has been so resiliant through it all.
We have been emotional and it's valid in every way being back in the hospital with a new diagnosis hasn't been easy.  Leaning into God to guide all his teams of different specialist, Antonio, my hubby,  his siblings and me. Keep the prayers coming! God bless
