Hair woes... but hair grows.

It was surprising and a little embarrassing that Steph had such a hard time with hair loss this past week (which started suddenly and intensely on Saturday and has continued multiple times daily, re-traumatizing each time despite an attempt to cut it shorter).  Typically Steph ignores her hair and tosses it up in a messy bun!  And has handled so much else lately so well.  But hair loss was emotional, and despite Christie's warnings, still unexpected.  It stinks to look sick when you don't feel sick.

Still, kindness abounds in this world, and a local salon owner (who we happily realized we know from church) offers free trims and compassionate buzz cuts through the Cancer Resource Center, and gave our family a beautiful moment.  First Jim buzzed himself and the boys in solidarity (so we can be an otter family of course) and then tonight Steph's salon buzz happened with Abby and Natalie each holding a hand and Brooke and Jim documenting and affirming.

You likely won't see this end result in person because Steph has lovely wigs and head scarves and hats...but know that we're working through the tricky parts, hopefully with a little gratitude and grace and grit intact.
