I personally want to thank each of you on behalf of Ayla’s family for your support, prayers, hugs, words of encouragement, meals, and love. It means so much when the community rallies around their own. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
Today Ayla had the amputation surgery. She has been in excruciating pain and they’re hoping that this will relieve a lot of that pain. They took her leg from below the knee.
She still has to have pelvic surgery yet. As of right now there aren’t plans for spinal surgery.
Please pray that the leg will now heal and that no infection will set in. Also please pray for continued wisdom for the doctors.
Another area to pray about is all of the healing process, not just her physical body, but her emotions and mental health. She’s 19 and has to live the rest of her life without a leg. That takes a toll on you. It’s also taking a toll on all the family involved. They are going through a grieving process of what was and their hopes. So there are emotions of anger, fear, sadness, and grief. Ayla will go through all of these too. Pray that she will allow God to help her through that process and that bitterness won’t take over. It’s easy to say when you’re not the one going through it, but it’s a gut wrenching experience.
The family also needs prayer as they process all of this. Losing a limb is huge and it’s hard. Watching someone you love going through it and not being able to do much, I think, is even harder. There have been times in recent days when Ayla has been crying out, rather screaming out in pain and that someone would help her. The doctors are doing all they can to help and are wishing there was more they could do.
Again, thank you all so much for all of your support, whether that has been prayer, monetary, bringing meals, transportation, whatever you’ve done, it is very much appreciated!!
