Avia's Journey
Hi All,
Yesterday was Avia‘s speech evaluation at the speech, language, and hearing clinic at Worcester State College!! It was a two hour evaluation and Avia did great!! She was able to show her ability to communicate through body movements and facial movements. She is more quiet than not, but the speech pathologist was able to use certain techniques to get Avia to sound!! Avia was able to show her knowledge of colors!!! And it is official- Red is her favorite color like her older sisters!! At the end of the evaluation the pathologist had heard me talking about being on a feeding waiting list at UMass Medical- Avia has oral hyposensitivity of the mouth, she cannot feel the food and process the movement of chewing! It is a skill that she will have to be taught, and unfortunately, there are not enough clinics that her health insurance covers that are not already overbooked. With all that being said, the pathologist is putting a referral out for a feeding therapist located in Stow Ma!! Avia was accepted into the program and will be seen weekly!! I hope this update brings you all who follow Avia’s journey a smile! I was truly so grateful to God yesterday after leaving this appointment that we’ve been waiting for since last October!!
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and if you haven’t shared her blog please consider doing so💗💗💗
