Major Breakthroughs:
  • Squeezed Hand on Command! Austin squeezed a hand on command today! Seeing him follow that command is such a huge, encouraging milestone for us.
Opening His Eyes: He has also been showing signs of opening his eyes a little bit!

Vitals, Health & Comfort:
  • Stable Vitals: After an active day, he is resting comfortably this evening. His breathing is steady at around 16, and his heart rate is looking good between 96 and 99.
  • Infection Update: They found another infection, which explains why his breathing, heart rate, and blood pressure were elevated recently. They have already started him on antibiotics to knock it out.
  • Phlegm & Feeding Adjustment: He was dealing with a lot of thick phlegm in his mouth and esophagus that caused him to cough through his trach. To help with this, the team reduced the amount of "shake" (formula) he is getting through his G-tube, which is going really well and significantly cutting down on the phlegm.

Upcoming Scans & Tests:
  • CT Scan: He has a CT scan scheduled for tomorrow.
  • Brain Wave Trial: Starting tomorrow, they will begin a brain wave trial (includes MRI Assessment, EEG Assessment & TMS-EEG Assessment) for 2 hours a day on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.  This is measuring brain complexity to detect and predict recovery of consciousness (COMPASS).

Thank you all for your continuous love, positive energy, and prayers!
