Asher's Recovery
Good morning to all of our friends and family! Today we’re holding onto God’s strength as we share a small but huge step forward in Asher’s journey. He has moved out of the ICU, and while we know we’re still in the very early stages of his brain injury recovery, we’re trusting that God is working in every moment, even the ones that don’t make sense to us somedays. But a constant reminder that Bubba is HERE! He is still here with us and continues to show how strong of boy he really is!
These early signs of improvement can be confusing. Some days bring tiny movements or tiny moments of alertness that fill us with hope, and other days feel quieter and harder to understand. We’re learning about Asher and his injury every single day, and we kindly ask for patience as we continue to navigate this new and unfamiliar road. There have been exciting days where he has opened his eyes, reacted to sounds in minimal ways but still is not consistent. He has especially listened for family’s voices and will sometimes give us ultimate hope by a cute little smile!! Praise God!! This is huge!! Yet other days he shows very little signs of alertness or engagement. Whether these things are purposeful or involuntary we still don’t know 100% but in our hearts we feel he is reacting to us! We believe God sees what we can’t, and He’s guiding our boy’s healing in HIS perfect timing. We’re taking each day as it comes, trusting that every step forward, slow, or unclear, is still progress and full of miracles in God’s hands.
We also want to take this time to say thank you from the bottom of our hearts for every prayer, message, and act of love that has surrounded our family. This has been one of the most terrifying and unknown times of our lives, and yet we’ve felt so covered, by God’s hands and by the people He has placed around us every single day with purpose!
Your prayers have carried us on the days we didn’t have the strength to stand on our own. Your love has reminded us that we’re not walking this road alone. We truly believe God is hearing every prayer spoken over our son, and we’re overwhelmed with gratitude for each of you who continue to lift him up.
Please keep praying with us. We’re trusting that God is not done, that He is healing, guiding, and holding our boy through every step of this journey. I hope to bring more frequent updates now that we are out of the critical moments, so we can celebrate each miracle that happens and also still share the hard, emotional days too because unfortunately those still come at us hard. We still have a very long road ahead of us but we will pray and fight along Asher every step of the way!
If you’d like to support Asher’s journey and carry a reminder of his strength, we created a new shirt that symbolizes our belief that anything is possible through faith, family, and prayer.
“No Battle Too Big, No Faith Too Small”
and of course bringing in his enthusiasm for Paw Patrol!
Your love, your prayers, and even wearing his shirt mean more to us than we can ever put into words. I hope wearing these shirts will allow Asher’s purpose and light to shine through! I hope as we all wear these shirts it’s a reminder to us all that we can be united in faith and united for Asher no matter where we may be physically in this world!
We love you all!
God is God,
