Asher Blue
We’ve been CPAPing the last several days. Asher went 11 hours non stop yesterday before needing a break.
This morning he coughed up some tube feed and aspirated it. They thought the ET tube was dislodged so they extubated him and re-intubated him. His sats were down, his heart rate was in the 30s and his lips were blue like the day he was pulled from the water. There were about 15 people in the room working on him as we stood in the background praying, declaring life over our child, reading the scriptures all over the walls over him, asking for angels to be commanded concerning him, declaring the enemy has no authority over his life. One of the nurses came and prayed with us. The staff has mostly had a grim outlook. In his prayer one of the things he said was, “Asher had made it through a lot and he’s going to make it through this too.” That meant so much.
They stabilized him and swapped out his ventilator since it had tube feed all in the circuit. He is back on IV sedation and on full ventilator settings. We are down to 30% fio2 from 100% this morning and he’s not requiring extra PEEP. His lung compliance looks good too although he's no longer initiating breaths. They still plan to take him to surgery tomorrow to place the trach and G tube.
Even though NONE of this has been fun and it’s been painful and sad and just straight up sucks, I couldn’t help but feel encouraged during the ordeal because I felt like it was a sober reminder that Asher has a high calling on his life that the enemy is just determined to try to stifle what Yah wants him to do for His Kingdom. A high calling means Asher has life to live, work to do.
So many of you joined us in prayer while this was happening this morning. Thank you for standing with us. Please keep Asher in prayer in the coming days and continue to declare full healing over his body and mind. In the thick of it, we are choosing to give God glory for every victory, no matter how small.
