Asher Blue
I didn't get to write an update yesterday. Asher was up coughing a lot last night. We found out this morning he's got RSV. So he came in with a cold (rhinovirus), then cultured positive for MRSA after being here for 4 days, then cultured positive for Pseudomonas a few cultures later and now has another bug. He's got lots of mucus. He's fevering just a little bit. Please pray the infection would run its course quickly so he can make some good progress.
The vent rate was adjusted yesterday morning and again early this morning. They plan to reduce the rate again this afternoon. He's been maintaining his oxygen sats at room air. They don't want to make too many vent changes at once since he's fighting another bug.
They're reducing his sedation again today. So, with the plan they have right now he should be off all IV sedation by Thursday midnight. Once we get there, then they'll start trying to wean methadone.
We saw what looked to be the tiniest little attempts at blinking his eyes last night. He's still wiggling his toes and raising his arms. He is more stiff today. He's angry they keep having to pry his jaw open to put bite blocks in to keep his tongue safe. When they suction or do a lot of maneuvering he get pretty agitated. Some daddy singing calms him down nicely.
The team is reaching out to Memorial Hermann to see if they could take Asher and do HBOT with the ventilator.
We have been proclaiming Psalm 118:17 on his behalf and petitioning Yah in the courts of heaven to fully restore his body, mind, and spirit; to bring him home with us with every part of him that was damaged, atrophied, injured, or severed, wholly restored, regenerated repaired, renewed. We are thanking Yah for the miracle He is performing in Asher and praying for perseverance as we wait on Him. Please keep praying with us, standing in full agreement and firm in faith.
