Another huge thank you to everyone who follows and for the support that has continued to come in. Ari has a long road ahead of him and the support means the world to us. An arduous two weeks and a day at Shands was punctuated with daily visits by friends and family and, once he finally started eating again, plenty of pho, tabouli and Israeli salad, and more pho. This kid loves pho. Yesterday, Day 15, Ari was finally transferred to Brooks Rehab in Jacksonville. The transfer went smoothly. It was a great thing for Ari to see the world outside of Shands hospital again.
Today is eval day. We saw speech therapy earlier this morning and now we are waiting for Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy. We are all happy to be at a place with the specialized expertise to help Ari reach the highest level of functional independence. It's not perfect and it's not going to be easy, but Ari's mindset is in the right place to achieve outcomes that will surpass expectations.
We are keeping in mind some key advice we received from day one by a giant in this new world, our dear friend Sabrina Cohen. The first was, "don't let anyone tell him what his future is going to be like." The other one was, "as far as it's up to you, don't let him fall into despair." So far, so good. We're thankful to everyone who is reminding him that there is hope and an abundant life awaiting him.
PT is here now. Until next time, with love and gratitude for you all,
Ari's Family.
