Angelo Cusimano, PhD Candidate
Hi all, thank you for the continued support and assistance during this challenging time.
Most recently, as some of you may already know, a dear friend and colleague of mine passed away. His name was Travis Kim, and he was a CLAGS intern and Liberal Studies student at the CUNY Graduate Center (GC), where I am completing my PhD. His passing--and presence--made a tremendous impact on me. We were classmates in queer foundations, a PhD seminar some years ago, prior to my transition, and Travis was a friendly face on campus, throughout my PhD. His loss is a tragedy to the larger GC community, as well as CLAGS.
In addition to recovering from his death, I am nearing the celebration of my birthday, on November 16, 2026, and I am entering my solar return, at age 28. This year, I hope to graduate, finish my PhD, and apply to jobs, all while dissertating, teaching, and staying afloat amidst chaos, grief, and loss. Travis, I miss you, I love you, and I hope to see you again soon. A hui hou, until we meet again. https://www.gc.cuny.edu/news/memoriam-travis-kim
