A big thank you for your love and support! I feel the healing energy and good thoughts in my heart and soul! Your prayers, messages, cards, and help give me hope and comfort as I make my way through these challenging and unpredictable days.
Here’s the latest on what’s going on: back in October I had a terrible reaction to a blood transfusion which landed me in the hospital for several days and delayed progress toward a Bone Marrow Transplant. I concluded my 2nd round of chemotherapy last week with 5 days of IVs at Levine Cancer Center in Charlotte. Honestly, it was rough, but the compassionate staff and a relaxing massage made things a bit better. I see my oncologist—who is providing excellent care—next week to discuss what’s next.
The best possible option would be that the chemo has wiped out all of the leukemia cells, and I can move forward with the BMT. The more likely scenario is I will have a 3rd round of chemo in December and start the BMT in the new year. I’ll be hospitalized for 30 days followed by 60 days of aftercare...more about that as things unfold! One thing that does make me smile and giggle is my bone marrow donor is in their 20s or 30s so maybe with this infusion of youth I’ll look like I’m forty something! LOL!
I’m back home in Franklin and the hardest part is missing my sweet kitty Patches! She’s staying with “foster parents” for the time being and I get to see her but it’s just not the same. I decided to give up my apartment at the end of the month, so friends are helping me pack, move things into storage, and tie up loose ends. I’m blessed to have found a lovely sense of community here.
Beginning in December I’ll stay with my long-time friend Norma Jean Arey in Charlotte so I’m close to the hospital and my medical team. Please continue to be part of my circle of prayer warriors and encouragers! You have no idea how much that means to me. Cards can be mailed to me care of Norma Jean at 1527 Sunnyside Avenue, Charlotte NC 28204.
I know you’re concerned about how I’m doing so I’ll try to get short updates out more often! I’m most grateful for everything everyone is doing for me! Coping with an illness isn’t something we do alone! It takes a village of kind, caring family, friends, medical staff, and even strangers like the selfless person who will give me the gift of life!
Love, hugs, and blessings!

You have been through some rough weeks, but you have a wonderful attitude as you prepare for more treatments ahead. I am sure this all very difficult for you... the medical world, the treatments, insurance negotiations, digesting information, and now... moving! I continue to pray for your healing and return to good health. You are on quite a journey. I am glad you have friends and supporters and I particularly lift up your friend Norma Jean, as she accommodates to a new roommate! I wish you well through this transition and the medical treatments ahead. You are missed at FUMC and 828.
Love and strength to you,

Your journey is a challenging one, but you will win. I have a good feeling, and so many friends are praying for you, and you are loved. It will be in God’s own time.
