Ordinary Pebbles

The entire town smells like blackberries.  It's that season where they are dripping from the brambles.  I guess it smells like this every year, because as I sink in to the smell, I instinctively feel like it's fall.   Somehow, I hadn't really noticed this the past few years.  Life was so busy, always somewhere to be and something to do.  Even on walks, there were distractions in my head, or with the dog, or chats with whomever I was with.
I spent a while wishing I could just keep living my ordinary life.  But right now, I am wishing that the rest of the world could join me in this slowness.  Somehow, with all of our conveniences, we forget what it feels like just to survive; to see every leaf, smell every flower, and know the world we live in.  Because life is not meant to be lived distracted, in a state of hard work between vacations; we are meant to feel what it means to SURVIVE, and to do that; to really survive as an enspirited body, we have to be there, in the moment.

I finished my Radiation/Chemo on Tuesday!  It is expected to continue to accumulate over the next week or two, and it sure is.  I've been doing pretty well, except I feel like I'm on a planet with much more gravity than earth, and my body feels like its buzzing most of the time, and I could easily fall asleep in any given moment.  I won't mention what is happening in my lower half.  It's not fun, but neither is working 9-5 in an office.  Life isn't always pleasant; in fact, it is often full of unpleasant things, but I am being given the gift of laying down and noticing things.
Today I was just fiddling twigs and grass, and one of the twigs was an Indian Walking Stick.  It took me a long time of holding the weird squishy stick in my hand to understand it was alive.

I'm attaching a picture of an ordinary pebble because, if you've ever looked at a river bed, you'll probably realize that there is no such thing.

For your pleasure, I will also include the Indian Walking Stick.

Thank you for reading
Angela
