Hey everyone!
I had treatment #10 today.
I had the bone marrow boost shots last week at the reduced dose and only 2 of the 3 days. I did still get a headache but it was not nearly as severe or debilitating. Unfortunately my body did not respond as profoundly as it did the first two cycles so although my white blood cell count is still "ok", it is way lower than it had been after the first 2 boosts and there is some concern that it will continue to trend lower.
Pray with me that it will rise naturally and safely or at least hold strong where it is or I will have a delay in treatment.
I will be scanned this Wednesday to quantify the tumor response to this first leg of treatment before I transition on week #13 to the stronger type of chemo. They will do this kind even if the tumor appears resolved because it addresses cancer cells at a different phase of their "life cycle" so as to attack ones that we may not be aware of yet. Pray with me that I will handle this different chemo well and my body will process it without major side effects. Namely cardiac related side effects. And bone/head pain side effects. It is also known to alter taste buds and cause all manor of digestive concerns.
I am feeling the cumulative effects some and needing to rest a bit more. The chemically induced menopause does a number on your mind as well so I have been a little more "down" than people are used to with me. Hoping I will adjust soon and rally.
Thanks to all who have helped/are helping. I am learning that this is indeed a marathon and not a sprint.
Thanks all,
Blessings,
Amanda Paul
