Good morning everyone!
Yesterday I went in for chemotherapy session #9. Which completed my 3rd cycle of the current regimen. That means I only have 1 more 3 week cycle of the weekly treatment left before I move on to the stronger stuff where I only go in once for treatment and once for a shot during each 3 weeks. I may be making adjustments to the meal requests at that time because I may be able to handle making dinners on weeks 2 and 3, but from what I hear I could potentially be much more out of commission on week 1. I am staying cautiously optimistic though. I also found out that somewhere in between treatments #12 and #13 I will be getting another mammogram and Ultrasound to see the progress thus far. I am very hopeful that we will be pleased with those results. I will still have to go get the dreaded bone marrow shots this week because my white blood cells are definitely trending low. They said they would reduce the dosage and only give me 2 days of them this time (well, I only made it thru 2 days of them the other cycles anyway). And they said I could get IV fluids with each one as well to maybe help me cope.
Thank you for the meals and the cleaning and the door dash gift cards everyone. And for the help in the garden. It is all so very uplifting and takes the burden off a lot. Even just those who meet with me for a bit helps to break up the days. I am used to being very busy and while its nice to have SOME time to rest... having ALL the time is challenging mentally.
This battle has been way more mentally and emotionally and spiritually challenging than it has been physically thus far. I will admit that and be open with it. And with being slammed into chemically induced menopause... I'm sure hormones are a factor as well.
Prayers continuing:
-For the headache this week to be shorter or milder or non-existent altogether.
-For continued cancer eradication in my body. Go away and never return!
-For my mental and emotional health to stabilize.
-For big decisions with our family. Brock is considering some big work related changes in the near future.
-For safe travels home for my girls and their youth group- they come home from Guatemala today!
-For my Zoe - who has her own health mystery brewing and a big scan next week that will let us know if we need to be very concerned or not.
Thank you all for being "in this" long haul with me. The whole process in the best of circumstances will be ongoing until this time next year. Surgery (if there are no treatment delays) looks to be mid-late November-ish. December healing. Then Radiation and Immunotherapy resume January-ish . So I'd say by next June I may be able to start putting this behind me - if margins are clear and no cancer is present any longer in the lymph nodes. (If there is, then its oral chemo for a good long while afterwards).
Be blessed today! I appreciate you all following along.
