Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.

First, just for who He is - King, Savior, Friend, Shepherd, Author and Finisher of our faith, Lord, Healer - I could go on and on. So many reasons to praise.

Secondly, will you praise Him with me that at this moment, Zeke is currently laying in his brand new SafeSleep Bed and vocalizing happily while listening to Adventures in Odessey.

What a journey that has been to get it covered.

Originally, we were denied - I think I mentioned that. What I might not have mentioned is that Medicaid wanted me to say that without this bed, we would institutional Zeke. Can you believe that they ask parents to say this to get medically necessary items for their child? I said, in no uncertain terms, that we would not be putting that in writing. There would have to be another way to prove that he needed this bed.

As I prayed and re-read the denial, I felt Holy Spirit prompting me to remember what we have walked through the past several years. One of the reasons Medicaid was denying us was b/c they said that Zeke could just have a regular hospital bed. This was infuriating b/c I knew that a hospital bed was not safe for him. All of those times we were in the ER or admitted to the PICU, one of us had to be with him AT ALL TIMES or he could have fallen out of the bed. We couldn't leave even to go to the bathroom. We have to call a nurse or just wait until whoever was with Zane got back to the hospital.

B/c of all those visits, I was able to work with my PCP to write a very strong letter of appeal.

As I sat back and read the appeal, tears ran down my face. This was one of those moments that I realized that all that pain had a purpose. B/c of all of our experiences in the hospital, we had enough documentation to prove he did indeed need this safe sleep bed. Without those hospital visits, we would have had to just a get a hospital bed and try to make it safe for him somehow. Praise the Lord for His provision.

We do not always get to see the purpose in our pain. Sometimes, it will just wait until heaven. But in those times we do get a glimpse of what God is doing, it's such a huge blessing and balm to the heart.

And if you are in the middle of a storm, wondering if God even sees you, please let me remind you - He does. Not only does He see you, but He is holding you. His Fatherly eyes see more than we ever will. His ways are higher. He can be trusted. Even when it hurts with every beat of your heart.

And if you don't know Him as your Father and Savior and you aren't sure if He is holding you, let today be the last day you wonder. Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved. Saved from sin, condemnation, separation from Him. Saved to love, purpose, security.
