Zeke's Journey
Friends,
I have recently been made aware of a bill that is active on the floor in Senate in DC. It’s called the Big Beautiful Bill, and will cut Medicaid significantly.
This is so troubling, bc as you know, we have been asking for praying for us to get the Medicaid waiver. But this bill will significantly cut the support Zeke will get from Medicaid.
Would you please reach out to your Senator today and ask them to vote NO on this bill. Here is a letter you can copy, paste, fill in your info or you can use it to guide conversation if you choose to call. I really need as many people as are willing to advocate for us in this way.
I will attach a link to find your Senators info below the sample. Here is a sample to use:

Senator,
I am writing as a friend to a family with a child with significant disabilities to urge you to vote NO on the Big Beautiful Bill. This legislation, as currently proposed, would have devastating impacts on children and adults with disabilities — including this sweet child — particularly through deep cuts to Medicaid.
Medicaid is not just a line in a budget. For families like my friend, it is the only reason that children can receive the care they need outside of institutions. Through Medicaid-funded waiver services, the disability community can access therapies, in-home support, specialized medical care, and opportunities to participate in the community safely and meaningfully. These supports are not luxuries, they are lifelines.
Cuts to Medicaid would not only strip away these vital services but would also put countless individuals with disabilities at risk of unnecessary institutionalization. This is not only more costly to taxpayers but also directly contradicts the values of inclusion, independence, and dignity that Americans hold dear.
Beyond healthcare and long-term services, Medicaid is often linked with food and nutrition assistance that people with disabilities depend on to make ends meet. My child’s long-term well-being relies on a stable network of supports — food, housing, healthcare, and caregivers. Undermining any piece of that network endangers everything.
We want this child to grow up in the community, not behind closed doors. We want him - and children like him - to thrive, not just survive. And we want public policy that respects and protects their right to live safe, full, and connected lives, just like anyone else.
Please, do not turn your back on families like my friend. A vote in favor of the Big Beautiful Bill would be a vote against inclusion, against safety, and against the very future we are working so hard to build for our children. I urge you to reject this bill and stand up for children and adults with disabilities by protecting Medicaid and the community-based services that make life possible. I would also appreciate hearing your position on the proposed Medicaid cuts and how your vote will reflect the needs of constituents like this family.
Respectfully,

I also want to acknowledge that this bill
may be understood differently by others. And some of you may be vehemently FOR this bill. In that case, thank you for your consideration and willingness to look deeper into the bill, as I will continue to do as well to make sure I’m understanding correctly. Thank you for your support in this way. As someone walking through this Medicaid process right now, I can attest that it is extremely frustrating bc it is already very challenging to get Zeke the help he needs and these new restrictions will make it harder for other families like mine - if I’m reading it correctly.
As a friend reminded me though - no matter what happens, pass or deny - King Jesus is still on His throne and has His eyes trained on me and my family. And you.
Thank you for your consideration over this matter.
