Zeke's Journey
Good morning, and happy Tuesday.
It was an interesting weekend - definitely not one we planned! Zeke woke up on Saturday and threw up. He then threw up 3 more times in 2 hours. We have an agreement with our team to go to the ER if he throws ups 3 times in 24 hours, so I knew we were on our way to the ER. By the time we got to the hospital, he had thrown up 15 times at least. Very stressful and very scary.
How shocked we were to discover that his bicarb was at a 23! That is a good number. This was really encouraging to us b/c it means that his body is healing, so we were praising God for His direction and guidance in Zeke's journey.
We were also shocked to find out that Zeke was constipated. We discovered this from an x-ray. The kid poops like a puppy - after every meal, and a small amount - but the doctor said that sometimes this is why you miss it. B/c he was not evacuating all the way.
Apparently with kids that have HIE and other neuro concerns, along with a Gtube, this is common. Their motility slows so much that the body signals to the brain "I am full - get rid of food. Can't take anymore in gut." The body is really an amazing thing, and I am constantly amazed at how God is revealed through body systems.
I am happy to say Zeke is back to himself and relieved to have evacuated fully! ;)
We begin our next round of Ability on Monday! I can't believe it is here already. I have several requests that I would ask you to join me in praying over:
(1) Specifically for Chris Kunis, who is the medical director for medicaid who keeps denying our claim for intensives. Will you pray that the Lord moves in his heart - and his staff's heart - that anytime they see Zeke's name come across their desk or screen, they are unable to deny it? I laugh as I write this b/c it makes me think of the old Jim Carrey move "Liar Liar" when he was trying to say a pen was red but it was really blue and he just could not lie any longer. That is what I picture God doing in Chris Kunis' heart. Ha! That he just WON'T be able to deny anything for Zeke. God can do it, can't He friends? We see this over in over in the Word where God softens and hardens hearts. Would you faithfully join me in praying for this daily?
(2) For Jon to not get behind in any work. That the Lord will just have such favor on him and enable him to complete every task that needs to be completed plus some?
(3) For Zane's heart. I don't even know exactly what to ask for, but the Holy Spirit does, so please pray for Zane as He leads you.
(4) For Zeke's hamstrings to fully lengthen this intensive. That this will be his best intensive yet and that God will utilize this time to have Zeke make massive jumps in his development. Will you pray for a strong body and endurance? And that his relationship with Tally will continue to blossom?
(5) For Tally and Dr. A to see the exact areas to address that will be the most beneficial for Zeke. Please also pray for the Lord to pour blessings over these two precious people and for them to be filled with wisdom of the Lord in their treatment of Zeke.
(6) To be transparent, I feel beaten down and spent today. I look at what is coming and feel so overwhelmed. It's daunting. Will you pray for me to have discipline to keep my eyes on Jesus instead of the waves going on around me? He is still on His throne. He is still my anchor. He is still in control. He is still good. Will you pray I remember not to worry about tomorrow but focus on what God will have me do TODAY?
(7) Please pray for safe travels.
Thank you so much for your support!
