In need of reliable means transportation for work, school, and medical appointments located 2 hours away.
A reliable car would make an enormous difference in our lives. As a single mother of four girls, with two still at home, I work full‑time at the job I’ve dedicated myself to for the past ten years, yet I do not receive regular child support or food assistance because my income falls just barely above the limit. My daughters and I have been receiving counseling after escaping a domestic violence situation that ended with my former partner going to prison for partner‑family member assault and assault with a deadly weapon. We all struggle with PTSD and need consistent access to our counseling appointments. My 19‑year‑old is also undergoing extensive testing for lymphoma, and those appointments—like my own medical care—are two hours away, leaving me unable to be there for her without transportation. Even though my family is incredibly close and we always face our challenges together, not having a vehicle has become a major source of daily stress as I constantly try to figure out how to get us where we need to go. I am a hard worker who prides myself on determination and honesty, values I’ve done my best to instill in my children, and having a car would give us the stability and support we need to keep moving forward.
