Wayne & Kelsey Ritscher
Many of you may already have this update, but wanted to be sure to get it up on here, too, for anyone who may not. Thanks so much to everyone who has reached out over the last week or so with Christmas and other well-wishes.
A week ago, mom/Kelsey spiked a fever at home, so dad/Wayne took her to Iowa City to get checked out. They ran test after test, unable to pinpoint the source of infection. Ultimately, the oncology team (in collaboration with other specialties) agreed that her symptoms are most likely indications of her body beginning to shut down. And, the scan of her brain showed more tumor activity again.
It was a little day-by-day in determining if she could come home, but we were ultimately able to bring her home today. A hospice nurse will come to the house everyday…and we will continue to take it day-by-day. The most important thing is that she remains comfortable.
I’m not sure why we’re surprised every time, but we are again blown away by everyone’s love and support. We’ve had a lot of people reach out about bringing over food. I think we’re set on food, at least through this weekend. THANK YOU!! THANK YOU!!
We really aren’t sure how much time we have at this point. What we do know is that are enjoying our time all together. …and Dan continues to make himself comfortable given any circumstance - see photo.
And so in this time, we find comfort in Jesus’ words in Matthew 11, “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”
