It's a long story. Here are the cliff notes.

Eric had 65% of his liver, plus a large tumor & his gallbladder removed last May. Since then, he's been hospitalized with various complications. He currently has 2 stents in his liver, draining bile that has collected.

In all of this, he has not had chemo to address the cancer we know is lurking. And so, based on a CT scan & MRI from his last hospitalization, we know that the cancer found a home in his liver again. There's actually several spots there, ones that were not visible just 6 weeks prior. Based on all that, there are no further treatment options available. So, we wait, as the cancer takes over his liver. We don't know how long that will be.

Our prayer is that he is able to attend Declan's high school graduation from Regis Jesuit on May 17th. The reason Declan went there is because of Eric's admiration of the Jesuit education system. We have not been disappointed.

Again, thank you for your prayers for our family as we navigate the end of Eric's life here and the beginning of his life in eternity with Christ. Please remember his siblings & their families (he is the middle of 8 kids); his children, Yuri & Liesl Katja (and their partners, who all live in New York City); and my parents & brother & his family.

Love,
Enid, Eric, Declan, & Hope
