We started hospice this last week with Bloom Hospice. The process was amazingly fast. Our doctor sent the referral on a Friday, the admissions nurse was here Monday, and we met our nurse on Tuesday. We also have a social worker and chaplain on the team. We met them on Thursday.
So we're set up for a nurse visit each week and a social worker/chaplain visit every couple of weeks. We really like all 3 of them.
Last fall, Eric started drinking high calorie shakes, to try to gain some weight and keep up with nutrition. That meant he didn't have much room for regular food. Now that he's in hospice, he can eat or not eat whatever he wants. So he's been having more fruit and other food that sounds good to him. He still doesn't eat much, but it tastes better than 4 vanilla shakes each day.
Eric is one of 8 kids and 2 of his brothers came last week (with a sister-in-law and a nephew), another one is coming this week. It's been good to see them. We are blessed to have my parents & brother & sister-in-law nearby.
The kids & I are doing ok. Declan has finals & APs to get through in the next 3 weeks and Hope has just 3 weeks of 9th grade left.
We are sustained by the grace and faithfulness of God. We could not do any of this without the love and presence of Jesus. My prayer is for peace & assurance for Eric, for peace, strength, & endurance for the kids and me.
Thank you. Have a blessed week.
