This is going to be a busy week b/w treatments and Birthdays. Started last night with a high dose Vitamin C IV. Trent's been getting these twice/week for 3 weeks now. It's great, Karlynn with AMIV comes out to the house to give the IV's. This is one of those non-traditional treatments so isn't covered by insurance of course but we think it is so good for his overall wellness and there have been studies showing these fighting cancer once you reach a certain level. I'm making this very basic, maybe I'll try to dive into it later.
Today was packed full at UNMC. We are really lucky as these are at Village Point in Omaha instead of the main campus downtown. This not only saves drive time being closer but is much more peaceful. The morning started out at 7:45 for labs through his port. At 8:45 we crossed the parking lot for an Echocardiogram. He has to have these to make sure the HER2 is not affecting his heart. This was really painful as he had to lay on his side for most of it. With the cancer in his liver/stomach he has a ton of pain in these areas so hasn't laid on his side in months. At 11:00am back in through Door F to meet with the new oncologist... HER2 was scheduled for 4:00 but our awesome nurse, Beth... called over and got us in earlier. Yay!!!
Being in the car that long, waking up that early and staying awake through most of the day is hard on Trent's body. He took it like a champ but I know he will be resting most, if not, all of tonight.
Sharing here so all the updates can be in 1 place and will try to keep up on it. Thanks for all the wonderful words of encouragement, prayers, cards and help in all ways. We are extremely humbled and blessed.
