Timber Jack
Timber's journey through his first bone marrow transplant recovery has been a testament to resilience and hope. He does weekly hospital visits for blood work, physical therapy, and other treatments, but our silver lining is Timber's renewed engagement with his schoolwork, thanks to the dedicated St. Jude teachers. He sees them several times a week and has started to love his sessions with Mr. Brent. On days he isn’t doing that we do his Miaacademy curriculum at home. He is currently very interested in history and the Titanic!
As we approach his next hospitalization on November 3rd, we're preparing for a more challenging round of chemotherapy, including a continuous 24-hour infusion over several days. The medical team has cautioned us about the increased risks and potential for more severe symptoms, particularly mucositis. To combat this, we plan to start Healios a week before his admission and combine it with Red Light Therapy, these helped Timber avoid the painful mucositis sores that most kids end up with.
We anticipate a 4-6 week inpatient stay, which means another month apart from Flora. While she stays busy during the day, bedtime brings a sense of sadness due our families separation.
However, the overwhelming support, gifts, and well-wishes and visits from our family and community we have a source of immense comfort. These acts of kindness have transformed our temporary apartment into a home filled with joy and creativity. Although, we are starting to wonder how will get all of the toys back!
As we prepare for the next phase of treatment, we are deeply grateful for the continued support and generosity.
