Tim Cantey
Not much medical to report since Tim finished his first set of treatments. Praise God he's gotten his appetite back and most of his sense of taste. This was evidenced while at the beach and consuming lots of seafood. Tim and I had almost a full week in our fav, Perdido Key (thx Mr. Rue!) . The kids joined us for Mother's Day and on Monday, May 12 Tim and I celebrated 24 years of marital bliss!
What a blessing it has been to be married to Tim. In Genesis 2 (and lots in the New Testament) the Lord talks about marriage being "one flesh". The last four months this truth has never been more apparent. Early in February I heard myself saying, "we will have surgery", "we have an MRI", "our treatments". And strangely, I noticed that Tim was saying the same thing. While I haven't lost my hair or been nauseous from treatments, this cancer thing is happening to us. We are one. And we pray daily that the good Lord will give us many more years of "us".
This month off of treatments is more than half way over. Tim will have his first post treatment MRI on Friday, May 23. We will meet with Dr. Whitley on Tuesday, May 27 to get the results. I may have mentioned that we have been told that likely this first scan will look worse since there may be swelling from the radiation. This will serve as our new baseline and scans will be repeated every two months.
While modern medicine tells us that glioblastoma cancer cells never go completely away we trust in the Lord. Our prayer is that the Great Physician will use this treatment (and the next phase of chemo treatment) to remove the existing cancer cells. Please join us in praying for: death to all cancer cells, clear direction for treatment plan, and that Sam and Nettie would find encouragement and peace from the Lord.
