This morning Tim had an MRI, the second since completing his radiation/chemo treatment. It appears that there is no evidence of progression! We are so thankful.
The radiology oncologist showed us comparison images in an attempt to explain (since I don't speak "doctor"). It appears that the original area that was the focus of the LITT surgery and radiation doesn't have any active spots. The area that likely caused the seizure and loss of speech was in an area too risky for the LITT so was hit extra hard with radiation. This area is still showing up on the MRI but has not increased in size. Praise God.
If you have read past posts you remember that brain cancer is not curable. Even if a tumor is completely removed, the cancer cells are always present in the brain tissue. So "no progression" is really good news.
More good news is that Tim starts driving again on Friday. In the state of Alabama you cannot legally drive for six months after a seizure and August 1 Tim gets his freedom and I hang up my carpool duties. My friend says we will miss it... ummm.
Nettie goes back to the University of Mobile next week for preseason and then soccer season will begin again. Go Rams and go Nettie!
The pic is from our first visit with Sam. He has the option to come home on Saturday afternoons. It was fun to be a family of four again. Sam seems healthy and happy. He likes the guys and leadership at Fishers Farm and appears to be maturing and has lots of stories of friendships, discipleship, chores, working, accountability, brotherhood and fireworks melting his favorite pair of shorts! Proverbs 18:24 A man of many companions may come to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother. We pray that both our children will always be surrounded by friends who point them to the Lord.
