Tiffany Collins
As Tiff shared in her last update, she’s officially completed her final round of chemotherapy at Mayo and recently met with the team at the University of Minnesota to discuss next steps for a stem cell transplant. After many conversations with family and close friends, she has decided to move forward with the U of M’s transplant program.
There were a lot of factors that went into this decision, but one of the biggest is that she’ll be inpatient for 30 days, and being close to home means she’ll still get to see her girls, family, and friends (as long as everyone is healthy!). Having that support nearby will make a world of difference for her mind, body, and spirit during this huge milestone in her treatment.
The road ahead is long and, honestly, pretty scary. This wasn’t an easy choice, but Tiff knows that without the transplant, her time with us would be limited. She also knows the risks, but in true warrior form, she’s ready to take them on because she wants to live a long, healthy life! A fun fact she learned - since the transplant completely wipes out her old immune system and gives her a brand-new one, she’ll actually get a "new birthday"! Another day to celebrate our fabulous Tiffany! :)
We’ll share updates here once the transplant is scheduled which will hopefully be before the end of the year. Please keep Tiff, her girls, and her family in your thoughts and prayers. She’s scared, but she knows she’s not in this alone. With the strength of this incredible tribe behind her, she knows she can face anything.
Post-transplant Tiff won’t be able to work or do much but heal for at least the first 100 days, so there will be ways at that point where we can help: meals, snow removal (winter is coming!), and a deep clean of her house before and after she returns home from the U are some potential asks. (We’ll post sign-ups once dates are set.)
In the meantime, please consider donating blood and platelets. It’s one of the most meaningful ways to help Tiffany and the many others who rely on those donations every day.
Tiffany and the girls want everyone to know how deeply grateful they are for your love, support, and kindness throughout this journey. They feel your strength and encouragement every single day!
